The course objectives are to:
1. Examine the major theoretical approaches to the study of organizations including political economy, pluralism, Marxism bureaucratic theory, scientific management, human relations, labour process, post-modernism.
2. Discuss and analyse of how these perspectives inform our understanding and experience of work and organizations in both the private and public sectors.
3. Provide students with a framework for assessing current management tools and workplace issues in a Canadian and comparative context.
