How Values Differ: Psychological Types and Moral Foundations

This topic examines how personalities and value sets differ in the context of a team setting. Psychological tools such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator are examined, including endorsements and critiques for each. Various theories on moral composition are explored. Jonathan Haidt, for example, postulates that human morality is made up of six 'receptors' which are emphasized in different combinations across different people and groups (Toronto PPG 2014). 

Topic Learning Outcome: Students will understand the challenges of cooperating with individuals that have different values and personality types than they themselves have and will be knowledgeable about different strategies for overcoming these challenges and cooperating with different types of people.
