A Teaching Topic in Fiscal, Monetary and Tax Policy

Macroeconomic Indicators

This topic introduces students to the most important macroeconomic indicators that economists and policymakers use to evaluate the performance and health of the economy. Specifically, students are taught how Gross Domestic Product is measured, and the limitations of this indicator as a measure of economic well-being. This topic also examines indicators that measure inflation, and discusses why inflation can sometimes be difficult to measure.
