A Teaching Topic in Democratic Institutions and Policy Process

The Democratic Deficit: Ethics, Responsiveness and Performance

This topic deals with the concept of a “democratic deficit” in the Canadian political system. It asks students to consider whether Canada’s governing institutions are adequately responsive to public preferences.
