Export-led Industrialization

A growth strategy that concentrates on developing domestic export industries capable of competing in overseas markets

Kegley, Charles W.  JR. “World Politics. 11th ed”  Thompson, 2007, Pg 154.

A growth strategy that concentrates on developing domestic export industries capable of competing in overseas markets. Export-led Industrialization is based on the realization that many developed countries were successful not because of insulation from imports, but success in manufactured exports, where "value-added goods" commanded higher prices than for raw materials.

Export-led Industrialization is associated with the East Asian Miracle countries and other Newly Industrialized Economies.
