Summary: Latinobarometro is an annual public opinion survey, conducted in 18 countries in Latin America, representing more than 400 million people.

Main Points: Annual since 1995, Latinobarometro is produced by Latinobarómetro Corporation, a non-profit Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Santiago, Chile. Latinobarometro administers a common questionnaire to households in Latin America with questions on different areas. Each year the survey focuses on a principal theme, for example, political parties, poverty, immigration or social capital. At the same time, identical questions repeated at regular intervals also allow the interested researcher to create a time series on many different topics.

Among main topics are:

·        Economy and International Trade

·        Integration and Regional Trading Blocks

·        Democracy

·        Politics and Institutions

·        Social Policies

·        Civic Culture

·        Social Capital and Social Fraud

·        Environment

·        Current Issues

The annual survey involves around 19,000 interviews with the same survey instrument employed in all countries, allowing methodological and cross-national comparisons to be made on questions covering the opinions, attitudes and behaviour of the continent's inhabitants across a wide range of economic and social issues.

The dataset covers most of the Latin American countries.
